Further information
The masterclasses are open to IMOCG participants, conservatory students, professional organists and advanced amateurs. There is room for eight participants per masterclass; the organization will decide who can be placed. Participants will be asked to study an organ piece (appropriate to the organ) to work on in class. The masterclasses are open to the public; the instructions of the teacher can be followed via a sound system.

The teacher of this master class is the Swiss organist, harpsichordist and musicologist Jean-Claude Zehnder (b. 1941). Zehnder studied at the conservatory of Winterthur, at the University of Zurich, at the Vienna Academy of Music with Anton Heiller and in Amsterdam with Gustav Leonhardt. In 1966 he became organist and choirmaster at the Evangelische Stadtkirche in Frauenfeld and began teaching organ and harpsichord at the Winterthur Conservatory. From 1972 to 2006 he directed the organ department of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. As an organist and researcher, Zehnder specialized in the stylistic development and performance practice of Johann Sebastian Bach. In 2002 he received an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Dortmund.
In addition to his concert and recording activities, Zehnder was - and is - internationally active as a jury member at organ competitions and as a teacher of organ courses. Zehnder is organist titular of the Johann-Andreas Silbermann/Metzler organ (from 1761) at the Dom in Arlesheim.
