Six candidates are to proceed to round 2, the semifinal, in which they will play the baroque organ in the Lutherse Kerk. This organ, which Bernhardt Edskes completed in 2017, is especially suited for ensemble playing. Not only is everyone close together on the organ gallery, but the organ has a Kammerton (a’= 415 Hz.) and is tuned in a baroque pitch. Participants get to play solo in this round; they will play three solo works (by Buxtehude, Hanff and Purcell), plus an organ concerto (by Stanley or Haydn) which they will perform with the Lutheran Bach Ensemble.
PLEASE NOTE: There are two sessions, one played in the afternoon and one in the evening.
The three best semi-finalists proceed to the finale in the Martinikerk, where the winner of the IMOCG is determined by an international jury.
